Modern Arabic Language is also called - Modern Standard Arabic or (MSA) for short. It is the modern day language that developed through time from the old
classical Arabic.
MSA is the intermediate level between classical Arabic and all other regional Arabic dialects, these dialects are called
Colloquial Arabic.
Modern Arabic (MSA) is the language of all Arabic writing today. This includes the alphabet and the
Arabic numerals.
- Modern Arabic language (MSA) is the modern day language, however, WITHOUT many of the ancient words from
the old lexicon of the classical Arabic language
already forgotten, and now all but deleted from the memory of younger generations, and replaced by modern Arabic and and a huge variety of
Arabic dialects.
- Words associated with the 'Good-old-Days' of Camels and Tents are replaced by
modern times utility words,
such as Cars, Computers... etc.
- Arabic grammar is applied in this modern language (and in other Arabic dialects), but not in that strict level, see
Arabic phrases.
- Modern Arabic (MSA) is the language of all official communication in Arabic countries, although Arabic dialects are used for oral communication.
- MSA is the language used in all government agencies (writing only, as talking will be in local dialect) in all Arabic countries.
- It is the language used in all legal writing (in the court, the judge and the lawyers will read legal documents in modern Arabic, but they will keep mixing both modern language with the local dialect in their conversation).
- It is the language of all Arabic newspapers.
- It is the language of Arabic television, but depending on the program anything might change; the news will be in Modern language, the film will be in colloquial, a program will be a mix of both and might also include some classical Arabic.
- It is the language of modern Arabic literature, modern Arabic books and modern Arabic writing.
Modern Arabic is the language of the Educated.
I do not want you to get confused, If there is only one truth that I can tell you, It will be this:
"All the above, are just variations of ONE source mother language".
Whatever you learn from this language you can use confidently, Arabic people will understand you.
